It was a great opportunity for the Uganda National Roads Authority to participate in the inaugural East Africa Infrastructure Project Finance Conference and share our strategy to leverage on Public-Private Partnerships to ensure Uganda and by extension get value for money through efficient infrastructure network. We would want to reiterate the importance of efficient structuring and packaging of our projects as a key success factor in reaching financial close.

It was a great honour to be part of the regional and global infrastructure stakeholders and indeed getting the opportunity to speak during the conference. I would say generally the conference was successful, being the first of its kind in the East African Community that is geared to address Infrastructure challenges being one of the pertinent issues. It was also made successful by the experienced resource persons who presented well thought topics. I commend the organisers for keeping it focused to the main agenda despite of the fact that infrastructure is wide. Indeed it was not only a forum to share views but more importantly to spot new opportunities and techniques to clear way and move forward.

It was an honor to attend the 1st East Africa Infrastructure Project Finance Conference. As a representative of the County Government of Meru, I acquired great skills and learnt from the speakers and panelists on how we can structure and package our infrastructure projects so as to attract financing. We are keen to learn more about Public-Private Partnerships and how the County Governments can start preparing themselves to undertake projects with the private sector as soon as we have the PPP Amendments passed. We hope to have this covered in the subsequent editions of the Conference.
Ms. Kalaine Susan Gitura
Ag. Director of Roads & Transport, County Government of Meru, Kenya
We were excited to be the Platinum Sponsors of the 1st East Africa Project Finance Conference and the opportunity to share our vast global experience in using Public-Private Partnerships as a model to bridge the infrastructure gap. We are grateful to have learnt the East African region’s experience, opportunities and challenges and how the governments of the region are packaging themselves to provide efficient infrastructure. We are keen to continue partnering with Lean Africa Consultants Limited in future to ensure success of subsequent conferences.
